Community activities

For the past three years, the Foundation has hosted an annual gathering for the blind, by bringing together some forty Quebec organizations who cater to the needs of the visually handicapped.

White Cane week has been celebrated for more than 60 years, the first week of February to promote public awareness to the reality of living with blindness or visual impairment. Since its beginnings in 1945, the organizations prepare a calendar of activities to benefit from this national public awareness week.

Under the supervision of the Québec Foundation for the Blind, this national week allowed thirty-five (35) organizations to gather forces and issue a calendar of activities. This resulted in the first Symposium of Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired, where some thirty-five (35) stands displayed their array of services. The Symposium was held at the Complexe Desjardins and the main objective was to promote public awareness.
